I was born on 2 August 1960 in Münster, Germany, where I first went to school. Already as a child, I was spending more and more time in Mallorca and/or in Spain. Whilst finishing High School, I studied carpentry. Next, I lived one full year in Spain, perfecting my Spanish at the
Inlingua language school. From 1983 to 1989, I studied law at the Universities of Münster, Freiburg and Berlin.During my period under articles I worked in a law office in Palma de Mallorca and as a teacher for public rights and civil law. Completing my second state examination in 1993, I qualified as a full attorney, and thus the legal profession passed into the fifth generation of my family. In the following years, I concentrated increasingly on German/Spanish legal affairs. In consequence, I completed a supplemental course at the University of San Pablo in Madrid, where in 1999, I qualified as a Spanish attorney (Abogado español) recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Justice. In the year 2000, I was called to the bar in Palma de Mallorca. It was here, in 2002, that I created the German/Spanish law office “Bufete Hispano Alemán”. Before this, I qualified as a specialist lawyer for administrative law and received my Doctorate in Spanish civil law.Since 2008 I am a Professor at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster teaching spanish Law.

I belong to the German Chamber of Commerce of Madrid/Barcelona, to the Spanish chamber of commerce in Frankfurt, to the German society for travel law and to the German/Spanish law association, for which I have organized an annual congress since 2004. This last took place on 14. – 18. June 2006 in Münster.
